A little poll, to see how everyone else thinks...
So my gf and i have noticed a trend that the UPS guys are super jackass', like total dicks, but the fedex guys are actualy nice....

I've known people who work at both, apparently, around here, ups starts the people who move boxes like $8 and fedex pays like $11.75, and at ups, the drivers dont even start at that much, but fedex drivers start at like $14.
also, ups is union, but it sucks.. a few people i've known got hired at ups around christmass time for temporary work, and they still had to pay the union... for like 2 months worth of work... apparently fedex has a no lay off policy too, so they dont hire seasonal workers (except ground is completely different where your under contract and buy a route and pay for your own truck or something wierd like that)

FedEx owns UPS.
Although UPS is cool because my UPS guy is this coked out Mexican who's always making messed up jokes and talking about his band. He's a cool guy, reminds me of Cheech, I always give him a cigar when I see him.

IME, UPS breaks it and pissess off, and FedEx pays for it even if you break it, haha.
-------------------- A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

oh wait, it's the other way around maybe? airborne express was bought by dhl?
either way, they suck anyway... this one chick i knew who worked at fedex for like 23 years got a job at dhl/airborne to work out of bordem, and she said it was hella disorganized, like at fedex, they know where just about every box is, generaly, she said it was hell trying to switch over to such a dis-organized system

yea, they bought airborne in 2003, i used to work near airbourne express, they were airbourne for awhile, but had dhl/airbourne trucks... they didnt really have uniforms that matched.. the airborne uniform was a grey shirt, and the DHL guys BRIGHT as hell yellow shirts... which is hella stupid, cause anyone who's lifted anything cardboard for any lenght of times know your shirt is going to get dirty as soon as it touches you... i bet those guys have to do a lot of laundry.... atleast ups/fedex gives them a uniform that will look halfway decent after it gets dirty

fedex express shipping has never let me down, not once. ups has come through also, but usually with boxes that look like they've been in a tornado. I once ordered a short shifter for my rx7...shifter bushings included (my old bushings were SHOT) DHL took like almost 2 weeks to ship from SoCal to Wash DC. Delivery to my house from the DHL center took another week because of "new drivers" Needless to say not being able to drive because of slow ass shipping and errant deliveries kinda sucked.

We use DHL and it has saved the company $thousands. But if it absolutly has to be there we use UPS or if it realy has to be there Bellaire.

i don't blame companies, but the people who actually work there.
just because some UPS guy in one city is a dick doesn't mean it's the same in the next city over...
and in my experience, it seems USPS priority mail is basically the same if not faster and cheaper.

I'm a FedEx man. If for no other reason, because of UPS's terrible slogan:
'What Can Brown Do For You?'
I mean what the fuck were they thinking?!?! This wasn't a small decision to be taken lightly. This is the slogan for a company that makes billions of dollars. They were countless meetings about it. They probably ran through hundreds of possible slogans. They did test marketing. They brought in all sorts of advisors. And they came up with 'What Can Brown Do For You?' ???? Did they not realize that every person would immediate think of taking a shit when they heard it? Is that what they want their company equated with? I mean what the hell.
Here's how the meeting should have gone:
Jim: Hey Boss, I think I have a very catchy and appealing slogan for our massive company. Boss: Well, what is it, Jim? Jim: Are you ready? It's gonna blow you away. Boss: Yes, let's have it. Jim: Okay... 'What Can Brown Do For You?' Boss: You're fired, you fucking dipshit.

I work for UPS, so I have something to add to this conversation, i think...
As far as package handling goes, at UPS it sucks, but I almost guarantee you FedEx is no better. I personally handle close to 8000 packages in a 7 hour shift. If you think I have time to gently place each one on the ground, your nuts. They get dropped, thrown, crushed, etc.
As far as employee relations, UPS blows FedEx out of the water. I make 13$ an hour, have full benefits that I dont have to pay for, Medical/Dental/Vision/Drug, 4 weeks of paid vacation every year, and days off any time I need them with no notice. Even when I work part time during the school year, I keep those bennies.
Fucking awesome company to work for, but I wouldnt ship my shit through there. Most expensive, as well.

The UPS guys are alright, the FedEx guy is always a little more friendly but I don't think I can rate a company based on the few encounters I've had with them. UPS seems more likely to work it's employees to death, maybe that's why they may seem less friendly
FedEx is where it's at.
