Multi spore inoc??
    #358806 - 07/22/01 01:11 PM (23 years, 6 months ago)

When you use a syringe of a specified strain is it still considered multi spore innoculation?
If so this means you could be growing many strains in one jar so what would be the point of getting a certain strain?

Yes, and no. It means you're not growing clones. Same strain, yes, just not identical twins.

Uniform, bigger flushes, greater yield.

It depends on what is in the syringe. If multiple spores, then yes. Could also use syring to innoc w/ a single strain liquid culture. I think PF does this for his unique strains. I don't know if the 'albino' trait would continue to show in cultures made from subsquent spore generations/germinations.

> what would be the point of getting a certain strain?

There could be any number of reasons for doing this. As said above, PF isolated a strain for albinoism (unique = +marketability). Could try to nail down contam resistence, fast colonization, superior fruit or spore production, etc, etc.. Then, the properties & 'behavior' of the culture are more consistent/understood. It's analogous to sports, where the coach selects specific players to cover certain positions based on their abilities.

Believe in yourself, keep an open mind and enjoy a spirited sense of adventure.

It wouldn?t , since the albino has no spores.
