I thought that petris would be too small to p/c. Figured the water would get in or something. Guess I was wrong!!! Did you like the caviar jars because of the screw on lid? I think I'll order a few dozen of these to try, they seem very nice for how cheap they are. But standard petris are fine to pressure cook too huh?

Yeah, screw on lids are nice. To be honest I haven't come near a petri for years, and they are a bit fiddly, but culturing microorganisms is what they're designed for so there must be SOMEthing good about them.....

let's just hope you don't end up with a few dozen blobs of polypropylene:D

I used to use old jar rings to build up a stand and set the glass petris on them inside the p/c.

> how cheap they are.

I have seen sleeves of 500 pre-sterilized plastic petri dishes with lids go for $20 us on labx. With the plastic ones, you don't p/c them, you add sterile growing media instead. I have never tried to p/c a plastic dish... at 25 cents each, why bother?

Well I was going to try to use the peroxidated wheatflour paste mentioned prior, that is why. I will be also trying homemade PDA as well, so for that I will just pour into sterile petris. I think I will build up a nice aluminum stand for those jars, how long would you guestimate I should cook those for Champion? Also, by accident I thought I had the right flour, but it does need to be "wheat" flour right? Any specific kind or are preservatives and stuff ok? Hope to still start in a big way this weekend!! Thanks for the info everyone!
