Hi there, I'm a few days old at the Shroomery but it seems a great place, because I am someone who craves meaningful and exploratory conversation which is very hard to come by in this empty, distracted society. Sustained lack of contact with depth makes me doubt myself - maybe I will overcome this one day.

I'm 20 years old but life really began about 2 years ago for me, 4 months of what I would attribute to a 'heaven' state, some kind of 'awakening', but this ended with a plummet into depression which I have been dealing with and learning from over the two years. I was surprised at how many of you describe similar experiences of the highs and the lows, the beauty of life and the pain and confusion of it too. I believe these experiences are very valuable for the development of our selves, 'personal growth' or 'self-actualization'. I find refuge in writers such as Blake, Whitman, Emerson etc who have been through similar experiences.

Currently studying Environmental Sustainability but am optimistically considering changing this path to one of Health promotion and Naturopathy, maybe later progressing into Psychotherapy (if I can sort my self out first  ). I love to learn and explore, externally and internally. Pleased to meet you all!

isnt it wierd how much we all claim that mushrooms change our lives but when we go without them for any substantial amount of time any good that they do is seemingly undone by ourselves, sorry i know this is off topic just the things eveybody said made me come to realize this,
i think somebody else here said it best "waves and troughs"

I notice in almost all the posts a lot of similarities, both between each other and myself.  One thing I have believed is that like minded people tend to gravitate to each other.  This post has proven it I think.  It makes me feel good to know I am not alone.

I shucked off my Judaism sometime ago.  This was after many years of exploring myself and my beliefs.  When I casted it off this time I knew that it was not out of spite.  I decided to call myself a philosopher; I think this the right term.  I am in search of the truth, whatever it is.  I think I know myself sometimes, I really do not.  I am at a point where I am trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life job wise and by extension just WHAT THE HELL DO I WANT TO DO WITH THE REST OF MY LIFE.  University finally sounds like an option and then again maybe not.  I have pretty much given up drugs and booze; they were not making me happy.  I want to find my happiness with an unaltered mind.  One things for sure "waves and troughs".  To keep this short, read the other posts, for I feel and think most of what you all have said (sorry for the cop out, really sorry :frown:).

I love you all, hugs,
Have a safe journey through life,
Chef

Let the ego have it's fun.

I'm a loner, both in real life and on the internet. I'm such an outsider I don't even fit in with the other outsiders. But that's only mentally. Socially, I'm a party animal. I find the Earth natives a little strange, but I've found the one thing I have in common with them is the love of having fun. When I'm not partying, you'll find me alone, revelling in the peace and quiet of solitude, seeking spiritual wisdom and inner peace.

Hi, I've been coming here for about two years now.I think its a great community with allot to offer. I like to grow medicinal herbs, Reishi or Ling Chi (Ganoderma lucidum) is my favorite.Computers and electronics are another hobby of mine,I consider my self an armature engineer, to a small degree. If I had the funding I would develop my own space program, building my own probes to explore the universe.

I'm a philosophy major and plan to attend law school after completing college. I am extremely easygoing, relaxed, calm, peaceful, stable, etc. by nature. I think about things extremely rationally and am so emotionally stable that ex girlfriends have accused me of being emotionless in the past. Throughout my life, I guess by a combination of decent luck, optimism, and intelligence I have always been able to skate through life without anything extremely bad or extremely good happening to me. I am obsessed with finding new music and listening to music all the time, I love drugs, and playing MMORPGs. I am worried I will never find a mate because I am so different.

I'm Alan (real name Peter, which is the Germanic version of Alan). I seem to have been born with incessant questioning, as my parents told me they had to send me to school at age 2.5 because they couldn't stand all the questions I'd ask. I'm extremely sensitive, being reported to have had troubles with wars on an emotional level when I was six.

At age six, I started to show fits of extreme rage at times, when I'd feel elated and capable of killing someone (if I hadn't been stopped at a few times, I might have), which I learned to control (subdue) only 8 years later.

I became interested in spirituality after a vision I had at age fourteen, and have been confused about life ever since (almost 22 now). I feel like I'm an outcast and I don't know what to do with my life.
