misting a casing
    #357285 - 07/19/01 01:38 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

I know you are supposed to stop misting the casing directly when the mycelium reaches the top. And the give it a nice healthy misting after the first flush. My casings have just started pinning and it looks like the casings got pretty dry (using coco-fiber so its easy to tell). My question is, should i mist these lightly or just let them finish out the flush. I know misting will cause abhorts, but i dont think its good for it to be dried out either.

Hey Ram,

Feel free to email me with any coco fiber questions! When using coco fiber, the top seems to dry out sometimes, while the underlying layers are still moist. Just give it a very light misting.

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do
Nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated

You don't have it quite right. Normally, casings are misted daily until pins appear, then you stop. You might try watering the casing. Pour a little water down the sides of the casing, being careful not to flood the pins. This has worked well for me in the past.
