Whats in a name?

So whats the deal with your shoomery identity? Im just curious as to why people name themselves as they do. Just a random choice? A deep meening perhaps? or were you just stoned off your gourd when you registered and your fingers went to typing?

For me its easy. My name is B.J. or at least thats what everyone, including my family, call me. Sometimes I spell it out for kicks and thats that.

So what about you?

edit: changed ghord to gourd... thanks, I always fuck that one up for some reason.

My name is Kenny (really Kenneth) and 7822 is just some random numbers I made up one day a long time ago and they just kind of stuck so I use them all the time for e-mail adresses and screen names and such.

Ummm my name is pretty bad.  I was extremely intoxicated when I first decided to register, and had to pick a name off the bat.  I dunno why I put all the 'o's in it...

I was pretty high, and don't feel like changing it or re-registering. :shrug:  works for me

I have the hardest times picking screen names. I suppose it's because your screen name is the first impression other users have of you. Being quite impossible to sum up my personality in just one name I usually look for a screen name that has comedic value and a general theme that I can incorporate into my online persona just to spice it up a bit.

In this particular instance, I was trying to come up with a name and had just watched the movie Beetlejuice for like the 30th time and so I figured it would be as good a name as any. The 13 was just thrown in there cuz it looks like the letter 'B' obviously and the number 13 has tied with it many sterotypes and superstitions regarding bad luck, ill fortune, and death. This also ties into the overall theme I spoke of earlier so it was a no brainer that I go with it.

And there you have it. The long boring version of the story of how I came upon choosing the name by which you all know me so well. The fucking end. :smile:

I was reading up on a DMT report by TM that he described I believe as being hit by 'noetic lightning' and I fell in love with the word noetic.

Well, I made a few attempts at making a screen name with the word "PaRaDoX" in it, but to no avail....  I got tired of trying and ended up with the name I have now....  I am Gimpy sometimes when my back problems hit me, and I like cats/tigers etc...  And I threw in the "Tom" to specify gender....  Sometimes the gender thing is hard to distinguish on this site by viewing the names and avatars....  I just wanted to make mine clear to others....!?    :shrug:

then I changed that cuz it was odd...

I changed to to shroom herder because I had seen a picture of what looked like a shepard with little mushrooms like things infron of him that he was apperently "Herding"

I was gonna find that pic but to no avail...

Years ago, I was researching some etymological databases, and browsing through Greek lexicon, and found two words, Skorpivo and Musterion... which translates into Scorpion and Mystery. I am a Scorpio by astrology, and enjoy all that is mysterious... Hence, a name was born.

5 years ago when i played age of empires , i was in a clan owned by my friend whos username was Xinistri , and mine was sublime1 , so then i changed to sublimistri , and i liked it , so ever since the i used it for everything , including webdesign.

So, I'm a geek.

I've always been into games like Breath of Fire, Chrono Trigger, and the ever criticized "Final Fantasy" series.  Anyway, my love for games like that led me to online MUD'ing, it's like a text based game.. (yea yea laugh it up, but their addicting), but it was fun and I always used the name, Silven.. so, I figured it's appropriate to just continue on the tradition.

Anyway, to anyone who thought I might have died, I'm still kicking, just not able to get on too often.  Happy New Years to everyone and I hope you had the greatest Christmas you've ever had. :smile:
