Are you expecting the sun to wink out, the heavens to open, the beast loose upon the earth? Or maybe you imagined a Ragnarok of more cosmopolitan origins: nuclear war, bioengineered plagues, alien invasion, supernova. In any case, it's pretty clear the last days are upon us, but given the laggardly pace at which this doomtime is proceeding we simply haven't yet grasped its contours. We adapt well to changes not sudden, swift and terrible, and just as we come to terms with the incremental decay of our own bodies and faculties, we learn to overlook the terminal events of our time as they unfold, gather, and concatenate in all their leisurely deadliness. We have wrongly expected the end of the world would provide the high drama we believe commensurate with our raging passions, our bold aspirations, and our central importance to the universe --we are worthy of a bang, not merely a whimper. And let me be blunt: by holding out for that noisy demise, we can pretend we haven't been expiring by inches for decades.

It's pretty hard to talk about the future out of any orifice but the ass.

psilo, take a harder look at Terence's theory. Actually, don't bother, take a look at any copy of the I Ching. Are there any dates attached to the hexagrams? No. Hmmmmm.. now think about that.. think about that.. now go read Terence's theory. There's a really brief sentence slipped in there somewhere that can be paraphrased as "Yeah, and then I needed to find a date to attach the graph I made to history, and I chose this one. But I SWEAR I didn't know about the mayan calendar till afterwards, I SWEAR (believe me please)."

but why would millions of people believe it if it were not even slightly accurate

Millions of people thought the Earth was flat. Millions of people thought the Earth was the center of the universe.

All i know is something is gonna happen on that date. The mayans did not just make crack pot predictions. They were masters of astronomy even a thousand years ago.

Who knows maybe a comet will come down and annihilate all of us heh.

Perhaps part of the bigger picture entails a chemical change in all of our heads, and this change is the same change that we experience during a trip. Then we leave our bodies, transcend this reality, and move on to the next phase in our journey.

so far i think the death of corrupt society will be the end of the world as we know it, but also the birth of a world we have only dreamd of. it may be an end to this illusion of physicallity , time and space, an ascension into higher realms of being.

it may be precluded or accompanied by great strife in the world.

regardless of the metaphysical nature of things, things in the world political scene are getting scary. america and its world conquest sized military, greedy and dangerous leaders, supression of civil rights, all the martial law/fascist warning bells are going off. things are going to get a little loco soon enough.

my advice? accelerate your attempts at personal improvement. enjoy your life as much as possible, develop yourself, purify...

prepare a hiding place outside of cities where you can survive.

just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I hope im still posting here in 2013 so i can laugh at everyone who really thought the world was gonna end.

The argument for it ending is pretty weak from what ive researched if you look at in a logical way.

i find it hard to ignore all the scientific data supporting the climax of some amazing interaction with humans and earth by 2012.

many experiments and models have been setup to show how things are accelerating, and seem to sort of do something really crazy , right at around 2012-2050.

i mean, how can you guys ignore the science? let alone the scriptural prophecies, and modern spiritual knowledge that points to something amazing happening in or around 2012.

you woud have to be blind?

Mankind is a over wound spring and is only getting tighter. There is going to be a huge turning of the tables. That I feel for sure. The past few days of 25,000 people drowning is going to lead to a pandemic, a plague that will kill far many people than some floods. The purging of mankind is going to happen. Things can not go on like this.
