I birthed my cakes about a week ago and today noticed a dark color (bluish/black) growth on top of one of the cakes and a little color on another. This coloring is on top of what looks like spots of dried mycelium (beige color) that has been there since a few days after birth. This dried layer peels right off. I thought healthy full cakes could fight off the contamination? WTF?
