It looks like there's some mold growing inside one of my PR jars, at first sight it looks white like the mycellium. Rapidlly, it changes its color a bit, it also produces some kind of purple material, it took over of less than 10% of the substrate. Any idea on what it is ? Is it very agressive or controlable ?

are those water drops on the inside of your jar? is that normal? ive seen small moisture build up, but never drops that big. . ???

This side of the cake has shrunk a little, so it builds up water droplets more easially, also the jars are flipped.

Shit happens! What can i say. As you see the contam took over the center of the substrate. It's has a pinkish color, i kept digging after this pic was taken, just the bottom and bottom sides were trully colonized with mycellium, the colonized area on the sides were just 1 cm thick. Live and learn!

hey, i just noticed that you were using one of those jars with the swinging lid, have you used them before with success? it seems it would be harder to knock without contaiminating the jar.

Yes, yesterday i birthed a PR cake from a jar just like this one (i have three of them), no contams. I know why it contamined, i realized i needed a modified ramsey seal so i could flip the jars for air exchange after 40% colonized, the mod was just poking some holes on the alum foil and the lid closed above the foil, i messed up this jar a bit when i was putting the foil (open lid). Now i know, i'll put the foil when i innoculate. This jars are great, you just have to get used to work with them and find the best procedures.

I changed the subject of this post as i decided to bring the cake back to life (or to fruit). The cleanning procedure, after removing all the contam crap (as far as i can saw it), i filled the jar with 1:9 of 10%h2o2:h2o, the cake (what was left of it) began floating arround, so i grab some foil and used it Ramsey seal like, but with just the intention to force the cake to dunk, after this i stucked the jar in the refrigerator for 16 hours. After that i took it out the fridge, drained all the liquid and added a top layer consisted on 50/50 verm/dung allready sterilized on the microwave with a proper moisture content (field capacity), warm place to recover for 24 hours and right now i'm pulling pinning phase giving proper environment.
Mycellium recovered very fast and started colonizing the top layer, also all the verm that wasn't colonized before this procedure was agressively colonized after those 24 hours.
I'll keep you updated about further developments. This is just an experiment, so please bear me.
Also any advice on how to overcome this will be apreciated.

i cant find any purple color on this...
it looks great...for growwing i would`nt take WET perlite, better its dry ... cause if u spray, the wather goes on the floor from selve

So did you use agar to isolate that strain? If not that is some hella ropey shit, looks nice

Full moon stories. Injected 10cc of sterile H2O two days ago, i just felt the pins calling for me "MAIA, MAIA... We're coming dude" (LOL). No really, everything was going fine so this was an expected end, funny thing i never believed i could be able to fruit this strain. Anyway, this idea worked pretty well, the cold dunk in H20/H2O2 managed to kill the contams and the top layer helped mycellium to achieve an healthy growth, the 10cc at the end were just a kick in the ass for pin formation.
