If you're in a country where it is legal, then you simply buy some seeds, and plant them.

and wait 10 - 15 years before it is mature and ready to consume. If you are in a country where it is leagal, I suggest buying an older cacti, you can ge them up to 10 years old.

cxz, Hiya, yep they are wonderful, and such a gift! First: Treat this plant with respect, its endangered!!!! The govetments don't even give a shit! They do take a very long time to grow, but you can change that to some degree. It can be gown, and be able to eat, in 3-5 years, thats not bad, for a pure cacti, graphing increases this! You can grow them under lights, inside, like floursents(spelling), or Metal Halide(spelling), the MH, around 150 watts is the best, you can even grow them, with 24 hrs. of light. They like the sun, and heat, they hate water, unless they are really dry. There are lots of information on them, if ya do your research! The peyote by its self is such a neat thing to grow, but if you are wanting to "trip", and use the mescline, then you should graph this plant onto, another cacti, San Pedro, or another faster growing plant! It works really well actually. : ^ ) Living in the US, you CAN, yes, you CAN, order seeds, and even the plants, but you have to be kool about things, call them by there names, not Peyote, and San Pedro, look up their "real" names, these are the names you'll find them under anyway! They are really easy to grow, they take very little time, and energy, just the Lights/Sun energy!! I will try to give you a few sites to help, but I'm sure there are many more out there, and be very cafeful, of who you buy from, this is one, of the many things capitalsim has take over. Its way over priced, just do your shopping. http://www.peyote.net/ Great freaking site, esp. for the "Rights" Learn about Peyote! http://www.xs4all.nl/~knehnav/index.html#peyote NIce, homemade site! http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/mes03.htm Learn to grow, and about cacti in general! I hope this helps, and gets a few people started, this plant needs to be grown more!!! And it has wonderful uses! Peace, SoCo

if not then what? Then you do exactly the same thing, but don't advertise it on a public forum :) are the seeds legal in the USA like spores? I know that the plants and seeds are definately illegal in some states, but whether this applies to the whole of the US I'm not sure.

Hey man, No Prob.! Hope it all helps : ^ ) And about this: Then you do exactly the same thing, but don't advertise it on a public forum :) If this was in reply to the links I posted, first all the links I posted are totally legal!!!! And it was no type of advertisment, just some good information that "should" be shared. However I have edited the post, and deleted the links! If anyone needs some great links for these plants just try a search, or pm me, and I'll help ya out! "it's all good" Peace, SoCo

Great post Soco. I have ordered and grown Lophophora williamsii and L. diffusa. Both seeds can be purchased in the United States. And after the seedlings reach about a year old, the size of a dime, they can be grafted onto a columnar catus to increase growth rate exponentialy. From a dime to a baseball in a year and a half after graft. The larger the rootstock the larger the grafted peyote will get. There was a great article written in High Times Magazine, March 1996, about it. I soon tried it and they worked spectacular. Unfortunately, I lost mine to fungus in the South Florida humidity. Should have left them under the High intensity light indoors, OOPS. The grafting really works great!!!! A buddy still has his seedlings, started two years ago, but he refuses to let me graft one. He has become quite attached to his and won't give one up. The first year of the seedlings life is the difficult part. Starting on moist vermiculite, with a humidity dome, then lucking out with taking off the dome at the right time. Unless you live in arid regions, or have a greenhouse, leave them indoors in a window, or better yet under lights. You could also increase your success if you use fungicide at planting, and through that first year.
