Cactus grafting..
    #3535760 - 12/23/04 12:11 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

I'm planning to buy peyote and san pedro cacti soon for the purpose of mescaline production. I'm wondering how i should graft the two for the greatest mescaline production. Is it better to graft the peyote on top of a san pedro or a san pedro on top of the peyote? Any personal experiences are welcome.

Since you are obviously not in an area where Peyote is illegal..... One would graft the slow growing Lophaphora onto the San Pedro which is a fast growing cactus. It would be funny to see it the other way around!

Of course.... what happens when you let it grow and then realize there is no way you want to cut such a wonderful plant? Of course the other option is to grow a ton of San Pedro and skip the grafting.

I don't think that I have ever heard of anyone grafting a pedro on top of a peyote. I don't think that is even possible. Graft your peyote onto the pedro.

Hmmm... i was under the impression that if you grafted a san pedro on top of a peyote, the san pedro would grow quickly and leech mescaline out of the peyote. Eh, silly me :P

That could be a cool graft having a real old but small pedro.

It would be similar to a dwarfing tree rootstock.
