Audio Buddy Preamp Recording - Need Some Help Please!

Wasn't sure if this was a Technology forum post or a Music one, it really could go under either one of them. So anyways I'll just present the issue, which is: I'm into rap and free styling and what not and I like to get drunk/stoned with my friends and flow with them, so I've been using just a crappy PC mic to record with 'cus we like to listen to some of the stupid/sometimes good rhymes we flow, just recently I got an Audio Buddy Preamp and this $20 mic from Radio Shack, low impedance mic, 1/4" cable. So my set up right now is a microphone going into the input port of my Audio Buddy and a 1/4" to 1/8" cable going from the output on the back of the Audio Buddy to my sound card's microphone port. From what I read (if only I could remember where...) this was all I needed to record better quality shit then a PC microphone. I'm not trying to record super-professional stuff, just better quality so we can hear better and at least have a physical microphone to pass around. That's all good and dandy and SHOULD work, but I'm just confused as to how to record from that line in on my computer. Like, where do I go to set that up? Do I have to uninstall the old mic? Or something to that effect? I'm just sort of presenting the general problem here, so if you have any idea what I'm talking about or think you could help me and have any questions about it, please just post them and I'll answer them. Thanks for any help you can give me, I appreciate it. Peace.

the preamp really isn't going to make much of a difference seeing as how it's a very cheap one... it might even increase hiss. on top of that you have a stock soundcard and a radio shack microphone... the preamp is the last thing you should have bought.
here is order of importance, from greatest to least greatest... MIC->SOUNDCARD->PREAMP

Well, it's not a stock soundcard, it's some Creative SB Live card or something. Couldn't tell you exactly which model because I built this PC about 3 years ago and my memory sucks. I talked to one of the rappers who was featured on Goldmic.com and he had an almost identical set up... What type of sound card should I be looking at? And why won't a cheap Radio Shack mic work? Thanks. Peace.
