hydrogen peroxide questions...

hi i was wondering about how to use my bottle of hydrogen peroxide..
just got it from the drugstore and its stated on the label 3% w/w (10VOL) hydrogen peroxide. Does this mean that it has already been diluted and i can use it directly without further dilutions?

also, when do i use hydrogen peroxide? i've read that it is only used to hydrate the perlite in the fruiting chamber to keep out contaminants.. how bout misting my cakes and shrooms with hydrogen peroxide too?

still dilute 1:10 with water. and its good to use with all your water with a few exceptions.

okay point noted..
still, isn't the solution already diluted to 3:100 ? dilute it again 1:10? wouldnt the hydrogen peroxide be so low in concentration?

Most people here dilute to 10% of the off-the-shelf concentration. Use 1 part of what you brought home, and 9 parts water. Your final concentration will be 0.3% in theory. If you bought old stock, it may have degraded on the shelf. There is a test to discover the actual concentration which involves, (Believe it or not.), a banana and a balloon.

H2O2 kills a lot of the contaminants that we all hate. Mycelium turn it into oxygen and water, which they need. It also breaks down when exposed to light, (and heat?). So, as soon as you make use of it, the 0.3% concentration begins to drop.

I have not discovered the optimum concentration. Some people use a higher octane. I've seen claims of 50/50. Straight out of the bottle it's lethal. We don't know where the line is yet. We do know that 0.3% is safe and effective.

Whenever you hear about people talking about hydrogen peroxide and diluting it to 10% h202 and 90% water, they're refering to the kind you find in stores...3%

Hydrogen peroxide is actually VERY strong if found in higher concentrations..thats why its dumbed down to 3%. That can harm mycelium or mushrooms if exposed to much so we make it .3% h202.

Straight 3% by the way wont kill much and isnt all that lethal. 35% concentration (you can find it online) can be lethal to mycelium and mold..but even then it takes a good soak to completly kill it.
