Hydrogen Peroxide question.

There have been other questions regarding this, but didn't see any answers. What concetration of peroxide should I use to wet the perlite?
Also what concetration should I use for the water in which the airpump comes?
What about the water I put in the humidifier? :smile:

20 parts water to 1 part peroxide is good for perilite bowls , same goes for humidifing systems , at least that is what cousin "IT" does , have had no contams yet . Shit has not even cleaned tanks, humidifier resivoir since set up 3 months ago , and all is fine so far (knocks on head , no wood near by ) ! Even had a couple trays go bad , tossed them dryed tank up and resumed with new trays immediately after . Blamed the cat for the cobweb mold that grew on those trays , he is dead now ! !

for large quantities, (diluted) bleach is much cheaper. i believe results are the same

What about mutations ? I would assunme that could be a leading causer of such events when using chlorine in the humidifier , for that fact in the very air surrounding the mushies themselves .

Hmmm.. But the mushrooms take the humidity from the inside terarium.. Doesn't that mean that it also take the peroxide? H2O2 is very powerfull!! I put very very very little amount of it on my hand..and after some time I saw white spots on my hands. My hand was kind of burned from quarter of a drop to say so. So strong man!!
That's why I am so interested in the concetration! Thanks for the help.

Cool man! Thanks. BUT, hehehe, what would be the minimum concetration to keep the contamns away? :smile:
1-2-5 %? :smile: THIS THING IS DANGEROUS!! At least at 30% concentration. One drop and it spreaded everywhere.. Does it brakes down easily? Cause it made me some surprizes..There was less than a drop somewhere.. I just noticed white spots on my hands..(I was burned again)

Er, not to be a smartass, but the stoichiometry of this seems impossible. Water is H2O.. thus removing an H molecule from H2O2 leaves you with HO2. Not water. In fact, not even a plausible molecule, I think. Definitely not a stable one, anyways..

Also hydrogen gas would be very dangerous.. like explosive dangerous. I'm not sure, but I believe what might happen is that it decomposes into oxygen and water. And hey, Oxygen ain't all that bad for mushies at all.. in fact copious amounts of H2O2 might aid in raising the Oxygen level for pinning/fruiting.

it might just burn you because you have open cuts on your hands....as this is actually what it's intended for lol....but it's true what they say, it won't hurt the air at all and when it breaks down it'll break into oxegen and water....that's all.

No the burning comes from he is using a grade of peroxide that is very potent , 30 % , you have to got to a chemical supply company for such strengths , not on shelve in COSTCO , potent enough to use as rocket fuel , if mixed with an oxidizer .
I would say that is way overkill , in fact to much peroxide can and will kill mycelium , a fungus .

20:1 is good enough and is far from harmful that is a 20-1 mix of 3% strength peroxide , more like 200:1 with that 30% stuff .
