Re: "Make Me Angry"; A Review [Re: fireworks_god]
    #3491672 -

Now I am going to politely ask you to lay off of me Fireworks. I never complained about anything swami said to me to the mods. I think it's hysterical swami gets so bored he goes to debate stuff with me.

He knows I don't come here to debate and we have talked about it in PM's. He has told me time and time again that my "form" is not cohesive with his and that I am not a worthy opponent. I agree and think it's funny. I am not going to change who I am so swami can have a worthy debating partner.

So why then did swami attempt to start a debate with me in that post? I was not offended by is saying I am worthless to debate with-no kidding. He says it again and again and still wants to debate with me.

What is a woman to do with the male ego? Laugh at it!

trendal already told the board that I, jiggy did not complain. Now, if you are using what swami said as a hypothetical for why someone might in the futre, fine.

But to analise me as saying that because I am unworthy of philosophical debate because I am spiritually imature has nothing to do with swami being banned, thats a personal judgment you have made of me. It's a label that allows you to keep me in a place you have assigned me. Ho Ha.

I suppose it was spiritualy mature of you to do that?

If any of us were spiritually mature, we wouldn't be here growing towards it. I hope I never get there if it means being worthy of giving good arguments to prove right from wrong. We can mature within the back drop of duality, being able to argue over right and wrong is not the growth lesson here. The growth lesson is to realise that there is no such thing. Debating things down to polarities and finite bits only perpetuates the arrestment of spiritual development.

I was telling someone here in IM's how juvenile I can be. I already know that about myself. I never claimed to be spiritually mature. What a silly thing to do as there is no room left to grow.

I never said or even implied that you complained about Swami, and I don't see how I can lay off of you when I am not laying on you. Don't turn this into some personal issue in this thread, because I do not want my thread to be locked, and I do not wish for me to be warned, for others reading things in what I say that are not there.

I have not issued a personal judgement agansit you, and I am not in the least assigning a label to you. I find it quite bizarre that you would even think that, especially when I not once referred to you.

Is Love, then, a weakness?

I do not consider "love" to be an emotion. I think love is an act that comes with various flavors of emotion like kindness or compassion do.

When people confuse love for romantic feelings or lust or quickly-formed attachment, that is what often curses them to unhealthy relationships and broken hearts.

So, yes, possessing "love" (as you define it as a an emotion) can very well be a weakness, particuarly when it trumphs over one's ability to reason and to filter out non-sense.

Why do some women stick around in abusive relationships? One major reason is because they "love" their partner.

It really makes me sad to see that a great mind like Swami has been taken down. He makes clear, intelligent, and interesting posts. When I think of the Spirituality and Philosophy forum, the first name that comes to mind is Swami.

People accuse him of having a holier than thou attitude or trying to belittle people, but I have never seen any evidence of that. He presents arguments and asks questions in a manner that is very logical and firm. He doesn't sugarcoat or dance around issues, he gets directly to the philosophical and logical core without appealing to emotions. He isn't trying to make people feel good or feel bad, he is simply engaging in philosophical debate.

I think the major issue here is an essential problem with a SPIRITUALITY and PHILOSOPHY forum. If this was a pure philosophy forum, no one would have anything negative to say about Swami because he engages in nothing more than philosophical debate. The problem arises when people want to explore spirituality and he comes in and tries to examine those views philosophically, people get offended. What Swami does here is completely in line with a Philosophy forum, but perhaps not appropriate in a Spirituality forum.

Because of the word philosophy in the title of this forum, it suggests a place for philosophical arguement, questioning, and debate. Some people are upset when their beliefs are questioned, but that should be expected on a philosophy board.

I see many parallels between myself and Swami. I, too, examine issues from a very logical and reality based position, and people get angry with me about it, and often will not continue a debate with me. An ex girlfriend had expressed to me her unwillingness to debate almost any issue with me because I was "always right". It wasn't that I was necessarily always right, but that her own arguments were just so often obviously flawed, or that she was simply too lazy to argue against my strong points. People on this board do not like Swami because he is "always right".

I am a little fuzzy making this post after a hippie flip earlier today, but hopefully I expressed what I was trying to say. The Swami ban issue really touches me because I receive the same sorts of persecution in my life because I am a smart individual with a mind based in reality.

I highly recommend an evening of adequate drinking in Sin City with Swami.

I'm not sure if I saw his Yin or his Yang... but he's definitely got some Yeti heritage.
