Pinback/Album Leaf/The Advantage

I just saw a kickass show.

The Advantage, the opening band, was a Nintendo theme song cover band. They were tight as hell, but I only recognized maybe half of the songs. Highlights were Wizards & Warriors, Blades of Steel, and Megaman 2:Airman.

Next up, Album Leaf. From San Diego, they are an instrumental, ambient band mixing synths and samples with live instruments. Coooool shit-their newest album was recorded at Sigur Ros' Iceland studio.
They had some reeeally annoying technical problems but the rest of the show was good. Not as good as when I saw them with Sigur Ros tho.

Finally, on LATE, was Pinback.
The sound at the club was annoying, the guy didn't know how to mix mic's. Monitors up too loud, mic's too low and limited due to feedback. So, as usual with Pinback, couldn't hear vocals too well. But they played a killer set, all the best tunes. Highlights: Fortress, Penelope, Non-Photo Blue, XIY, and Loro.

Ahh... I love great concerts. :cool:

sounds good, exept for the show with the bad sound guy. It can really fuck a show up when someone can't mix the sound well.

I'm going to see Lee'scratch'Perry on thuesday if it isn't sold out :laugh:
never been to a dub/reggae concert before, should be interesting

Yeah, that shit drives me nuts... I don't know how many shows I've seen that were ruined by poor vocal mixing.

Not to mention how many shows I've seen that were ruined by poor vocal performance... it seems to always be one or the other...

What show was it? I'm listening to October 25 right now.  I saw them November 4 and it was simply amazing :loveeyes:

Aspects of physics and Earlimart opened.  They were both great as well.  I wouldn't mind seeing the Album Leaf though.

Pinback!!! I've seen them about 15 times here in San Diego. They are getting pretty big now...I made a Pinback sticker for my roommate below. It's from a photo of Rob Crow and Armistead. I love those guys.

The show date was December 3rd at Hotel Congress.

I saw Aspects of Physics last year when Pinback came to town, they were really cool. I haven't heard too many bands that do what they do live.

They are getting big, it helps when you make a CD that is better than anything you've done before...

These guys are on their way

They definitely had a good show. (Aspects of physics).

Their backdrop was playing the coolest video ever!! I can't really describe it without it sounding really cheesy. My friend thought it was the highlight of their set.

Last night I told a friend that I'm immune to pinback ... I just can't get sick of them.
