Last album(s) you got that you really like and why

Juno Reactor - Labrynth

i've always been a JR fan but i think they took a big step into the mystery of trance music. there are lots of beautifully mixed instruments tracked in, specifically an awesome spanish-like guitarist (not even sure if it's a guitar) and some interesting acoustic percussion... the album opens with a haunting percussion on some sort of chime-ish instrument. also alot of epic sounding choruses, alot of the album sounds like it is themed for some great mediterranean war. All of this plays over the intense digital drive that juno reactor is well known for, but there is alot of space and breathing room, nothing gets tedious, which electronic music can easily do.

Nightmares on Wax - Smoker's Delight

very cool album. lots of different instruments, every track is unique. the album has a relaxed, earthy, and human feel to it that is hard to describe. it makes me think of beautiful sprawling urban murals on the sides of buildings. i would say the artwork on the cover conveys the feel of the album pretty well.

I burnt a CD of music from www.ocremix.org which is a site of remixes of video game songs. There's good stuff like Castlevania, Mega Man 3, Blaster Master, Monkey Island, Punch-Out, Metroid, Street Fighter and it's all remixed to be techno or metal. I bet there's Earthbound too. I like it because it brings back memories and I think Nintendo games had a lot of good music, songs that stuck in your head. I listen to it in school while I work.

just downloaded the new audioslave and I'm really enjoying it. I was'nt expecting too much, but I think they really improved thier sound and have become way more coheisive. This album really grooves. I'm really happy with it.

NIN- With Teeth

Not what I expected, and definately not the usual/old NIN, but it has grown on me- especially the last track. That song was worth the whole cost of the album.

i agree! i recently downloaded a large 'outtakes' torrent of his, that contains maybe 25 un-released or alternate versions of songs. there is an acoustic version of Chicago that sends chills down my spine!

I just bought a cd called crimson by a band called Alkaline Trio. It was on a whim, as I had never heard them before, and I must say it's pretty okay stuff

Gonzalo Rubalcaba - The Trio

Rulcaba - Piano
Brian Bromberg - Bass
Dennis Chambers - Drums

some seriously fucking great jazz playing

Caron Ecay Lockwood

Alain Caron - bass
Marie Ecay - guitar
Didier Lockwood - Electric violin and other similar instruments

Another amazing album which I hold very highly in terms of landmark song writing and playing in the field of smooth jazz. No rhythm section, you seem to find that yourself as these 3 masters weave beautiful melodies through your mind

I recently picked up "The Clarence Greenwood Recordings" by Citizen Cope. Its alright, their songs are kind of hit or miss though. Like some are really good, and then some just suck.

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

Youth Group - Skeleton Jar

both were recommendations to me from Robot (although my cousin and other friends had told me about bloc party before) - and i'd pass on the recommendations! just got them both today, and they are both splendid albums! i've always been firmly of the opinion that modern music sucks in comparison to music from the 70s, but give both of these a listen, anyhow - they both rock!
