Yes I have. Potting soils vary in content and tend to have high contaminant spore loads. It is much easier to just make your own casing soil. Just use Peat as a base and loosen it up with either perlite or vermiculite. 3parts peat : 1part perlite or vermiculite. And definetly sterilize it. Sometimes you get clean bags of this stuff, but more often then not the bags have small puncture wounds from transport, and they do have contaminants in it. I also try and remove any pieces of wood from the peat, because these are harder to sterilize consistently. Jiffy Mix will work, make sure it has no Fertilizer in it. Never case with Top soil, or large bags of general soil you get from Home depot or the like. It is best to make your own. Peat : perlite or vermiculite. Bring up to Field capacity with water, if it gets to wet, add a little more casing mixture. This is the hardest part of casing is finding the right water content range. Experience will teach that. Good luck!!
