How much substrate?
    #347346 - 06/23/01 01:41 PM (15 years, 5 months ago)

My casing was 9 inches by 9 inches.. I crumbled 2 cakes into it.. making about a 1/2 layer of substrate.. is that too little?

my friend used trays that were about 9x11 and crumbled 3 1/2 pint jars inbetween two layers of 50/50+, totally covered the top layer 1/2'' thick all over, one day later he has small primordia poking through in a few places, he has an airpump running 24/7 in a rubbermaid container with perlite and has around an 83% humidity and the 50/50+ layer is nice and moist looking.
