What do you guys have better success with for casings? crumbling the cakes on slicing them into thin pieces

This is a big topic of controversy here, but to answer your question, my friend prefers crumbling. Honestly there is probably no difference, so long as there is an even layer ie. no gaps between sliced cakes.

Some people like to slice, then use crumbled mycelium to patch the gaps between the slices.

I personally think its better to crumble, when you slice cakes, they tend to get very sharply defined areas, which is good in some ways, but its not very airy. When you crumble them, you disrupt the mycelium, and then it grows back even more strongly, usually.
