Time Travelling and Lotto Numbers?
    #3466229 - 12/08/04 05:30 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

If, for instance, the Lotto 649 randomly hit these numbers, 34,23,12,15,35,3, and I went back in time to a few days before the draw, is it absolutely definite that these numbers will hit again? Or since its totally random could the numbers end up being different? Even if I was on the other side of the country and had NO effect on it whatsoever, what are the chances that the numbers will hit the same? I was trippin when i thought of this. Anyone have any experience in the timespace continuum or anything? anyways tia

When you go back in time you won't be on the same time-line as the one you were on when the numbers were drawn. The numbers would not be the same.

huh - that's a good question because the answer's not obvious. Of course, there's no way to tell for sure, since we can't go back in time.

Where do you think I got my $20K for all the "challenges"?

How else could I possibly have know that Niburu wouldn't arrive last year?

What happened, happened. The numbers would be the same because randomness doesn't exist.

I don't know. A job? Heh.

I don't think you "knew" you just banked on the probability of such predictions being false; based on your own experience of similar predictions being false.

 I could be wrong though, maybe you "knew!!!" haha.

Ah, but that assumes the idea that time travel within this same reality is possible... as opposed to the common modernized version of time travel that's based on the concept of travelling back in time actually being traveling to a different dimensional reality that happens to line up conveniently enough for it to be slightly earlier in that reality versus our own.

Did I mention that any response to this question is going to come out of someone's ass?

"Did I mention that any response to this question is going to come out of someone's ass? "

It would be possible for the same numbers to be drawn, but not definite this time around. What someone can't know is the likelyhood of this.

I'll agree with that!

Doesn't change the fact that any definitive answers to his question would have to be pulled out of the writer's ass, simply because none of us has the capability of time travel or a frame of reference from which to answer the question.

The correct answer is maybe.

The lotto balls are controlled by the same laws of physics as anything else. They're not completely random, but they're not easily predictable either. The slightest gust of wind could completely change the output of the draw.

If you go back in time, you will make a slight change in the universe. This might be enough to eventually lead to the balls being positioned differently enough that the outcome is different, but it's impossible to tell for sure.

So if you go back in time, things will change a bit. Enough to change the outcome of the lottery? Who knows.

We can speculate on this with just as much certainty as the existance of flying invisible pink unicorns. I doubt you are afraid of taking a stab at that without it coming out your ass.
