fashionably late bacterial infestation...
    #346364 - 06/21/01 11:18 PM (23 years, 3 months ago)

i have not had contams in quite a while, then today and filthy smelling bacterial infestation appears at the bottom of the jar. it is sort of below and to the left of an innoculation point.
the prob is the jars (pint) have been going for about 12 days now and are almost complete. why would contams show up so late? it has not affected any other jars (i HOPE!) and seems to have cropped up "overnight" so to speak. is it likely to have been the syringe or something else?
any help appreciated...

no colour puscle
i only noticed it coz of the smell primarily
then i realised that near the hole from which the smell was emanating, there was a patch of brf that was darker and seemed "decomposed" or something... it is one jar out of 18 so i guess i am pretty lucky, but now one other has the same smell, slightly less noticeable, so i might have to throw that too. all the rest are almost done so they should be fine and escape it (i hope!!)

that's how it starts, bad smell first then it will change colors later. I have seen this before...

the part where U said the verm looked decomposed, was it the dry layer? if so than it means that U somehow got a wick. but 1 out of 18 is really good though. but I would still watch all the other more closely now. It might have just been that U just got one screwed up jar. hopefully that is all. Good luck and I hope the rest don't go sour on ya....

Help stop the clear cutting of MT. Elphinstone. send a small donation to the Spore Lab are purchase a few syringes, help fight the Government bastards who want to destroy forest for $$gain......

yeh it was starting to go darker than the surrounding area, that is how i noticed
nope, not dry layer. just below and to the left of an innoculation point, like it had showed up below and behind the myc and pushed it's ay under. it is in the substrate anyways taz so not a wick.
yeh i figured it was not to bad (although the count is now 2, but the rest are 90% done so they should be fine.)
when i first started out and finally got a consistent procedure going i had a 100% success rate  i was quite happy with that... but still 1/9 ain't soooo bad
