2nd flush ??'s

hey fellas so its second flush on the first casing and it has been noticed that although there are less pins on them the ones that are there are way way fatter and bigger than the first flush.

also whats your favorite way to bring the mushies thru second flush?

dunking the whole shrunken casing overnight then re casing has been tried

just misting and sticking back in has been tried

misting and re casing has also been tried and it seems that some are not even fruiting at all

This most likely destroys all of the primordia that were formed on the first flush intended for the second.

1.)Mist your casing layer to optimum moisture.
2.)lower rH to low 90s
3.)air temp 74-78F
4.)lots of fresh air

Yeah i wouldnt re-case, it will take a while to mend itself again :thumbdown:

because there are fewer mushrooms on the second flush, so the water and nutrients are more availible.

As a cased substrate flushes, it depletes nutes & you get less pins, But the pins you do get - receive more nutes & accordingly - produce bigger Shrooms.

4th or 5th flush - I forget which

my buddy just dunks his casings by letting them float so no pins of anything get damaged on the top but they still soak up quite a bit of water.

he has has some big differences with dunking and just heavy misting

I've read more than once that as the flushes go on the quantity of pins goes down but the overall size of each goes up. Standard fare.
