PINs vs Spokes? Difference between

Very newbie.. don't laugh. I finally birthed 9 cakes 7 days ago. They seemed super dry coming out of the jars. *I steam autoclaved substrate jars originally using PFrecipe.
That may have evaporated some water out. Anyway.. they were 100% but only
1cake had actual signs of pins. I think I did the right thing by NOT waiting for longer colonization because they were pretty damn thirsty. So 1wk later and joy joy happy happy.. 3 cakes have primordials sticking their little heads out. (Doing perlite humidification
AND every 4hrs a 3min ultrasonic mist with drip shield protection. Fanning out CO2
with hair dryer carefully 2-3xday. One cake ( which also was the first cake to start fluffing) has lots of white spokes, pointy. Damn thing looks good enough to eat..
(I love coconut cake) but no primordials. What are those? Do those become mushrooms?
Everything is bright white and looking very happy but no little bumpy heads like the others. Humidity is at 96-100%. Temp at 74degrees. Whats the diff between pins and spokes?

Pins have a reddish head and will develop into a mature mushroom. I'm guessing what you're calling "spokes" are rhizomorphic mycelia.

I guess that one cake is really soaking up the H20. It's more cottony and has those points of mycelium. Quite decorative though. I am going to eliminate 2 cycles of the ultrasonic misting. I'll keep adjusting. I may not need the mist at all with the perlite. I like gadgets. Why would one cake produce so much more mycelium? It's not any closer to the vent tube for humidifier. I do see the red pin heads beginning on a few of the others. God, they are so tiny. What a long process. It's ok. Thanks for responding.

Cakes are hard to predict. The perlite is all they need for humidity. Fresh air, you must provide. Hey, relax, if you're seeing pins now, you should have a right fine weekend.

"Spokes" are "fingers" of mycellium, Pins look like TINY points on your cake surface, much smaller than "spokes".
I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.

Those little spokes will probably form into pins.

I would not worry yet its only 7 days. They will start appearing soon and if you prematurly birthed them then it may take a little longer. But if these spokes start to appear everywhere then I personally would advise to remove them, its like prunning because these consume nurisments that the mushromms can use.( not exactly sure on the last point tho)

THANKS! I'm gonna leave the one cake alone. Will cut rhizoids only if I don't see pins
in a week.
Damn I just went in and counted..I have 6pins on one and they are bigger than this morning!!! There are about 21 tiny ones on another.. and 12 on the other! Hey these are my first babies! I have 4more jars ready,VERY ready and will try Rich Hawk's 50/50+ for those. DAMN I AM SO EXCITED!!
And I have some equadorians colonizing since
adding them to the cozy heating pad box. Looking forward to the weekend.. I can
hardly stand it!!
