brf cakes, uneven pins, white caps, finding aborts?

My friend has some brf cakes that are pinning unevenly. They are in little mini flushes on different areas of the cakes. His is using B+ cubies. The pins start out white on top, and the white kinda spreads out when the brown cap grows, forms a light spotted pattern on the cap. The problem is that He cant tell if the little pins are aborts or not because the cap is white till its about a half inch, and he can only see little cracks of brown coming through until it grows more. There are too many pins growing at different speeds to see if any have stopped growing. He has read that the head starts turning dark if its an abort. Will the white pinhead turn dark too?

you mainly don't get aborts till the mushrooms start growing and if they were aborts the cap will turn black and once they turn black they should be pick right away because they will decay.tell your friend not to worry everything sounds good

Ive heard aborts are good eat'n. Ive also heard not to eat any that have begun to rot. If the head is starting to turn black is it still ok to eat? At what point is it no good to eat? What will happen to you if you eat a spoiling mushroom? Sorry to ask such newBish questions, and I have read the faq, Im still not totaly clear about it yet.
