Question on my crap bag of Perlite

I was hasty at the store today and purchased Miracle Gro Perlite, thinking it was just a brand. Turns out in the tiny little print in the corner that it has miracle grow in it. It's only like .02/.01/.04 or less. I wouldn't want to use it without Knowing it won't cause trouble. I haven't and don't plan to set my cakes directly on the perlite. I have a 1.5" layer in there now and just wanted to bring it up to 2". It's a PMP set up. Can anyone help on this?

I doubt it would make much difference but.. Just wash it in a strainer for a while with hot water? Or soak it in a big bucket etc
That should get most of the shit out of it if you dont want it in there I reckon.

Rinse it out with a strainer or something, then bake it in the oven until its all dry.

So rinse and bake is the general consensus? I've already started rinsing, just hopeing to get more verification for my drug induced paranoia afflicted mind.

Rinsing is enough I would say. People clean out PmPs with bleach before they add perlite/geolite. Obviously they rinse and stuff, but if you arent setting the cakes directly on it I cannot think of a reason why it wouldnt work.
