i know this may be against the beliefs of some, but i would use fully functional warez programs as previews. if i like the program i buy it! that way i can trial full versions (not crappy limited shareware ones) and also supporting programmers... give it a try thor. it doesn't mean you have to keep the progs after you have tried them...

Thor, I have spent MANY, MANY hours with Rebirth 2.0. I love it! I am also a drummer and keyboard player, but I love making music with the PC as well. I used to use tracking programs like Fast Tracker, Scream Tracker, etc back a few years ago, you know where you actually use your own custom bank of samples and lay the songs out piece by piece like math. Rebirth is of course a whole different thing, but can also be very fun. What I do is make about 10 drum patterns, and about 10-15 on each of the keyboards, you know and store them in those pattern banks. Then I will output my PC to a jambox(kinda low-fi but fun), put in a blank tape, and arrange/derange/re-arrange my patterns in all kinds of crazy loops while tweaking the hell out of the controls. I am humble, but have made a few things on there that I am really proud of, some seriously trancy stuff. I'll let you hear them if u want. They are not saved in Song mode, I always save just in pattern mode, and then play live, but I will send you the .rbs files for a couple if you want. Maybe I could hear yours too??

P.S. Rebirth software isn't cheap if you're friend burns you a big ol compilation CD of expensive audio software, with text files of all the serial numbers. But then that would be illegal wouldn't it, so I guess I shouldnt do that. :)

P.S.S. I once set up Rebirth in an empty bedroom at a party, and outputted it to speakers in the house, and was live-jamming some trance music, and everyone one was like 'what the fuck', it sounded like there was this badass DJ there, but noone could find the turntables... haha!

Has anyone got ReBirth or Reason to work in Windows 2000?

Some of you may laugh, but I tried a demo version of Ejay in Iceland, and I was quite impressed.... See I'm very very new to this and this program was extremely user friendly, what do you people think of it... Heres the one I was looking at getting back in Iceland Ejay of the week Ultra Pack 12 CD's for that price, tons of samples.....

Reason runs well on Windows2000, however their ASIO support is flaky. I returned it for that reason. They were supposed to release a patch for their ASIO support June 1st, but the Propellerhead's website has been down since then. Flaky. http://www.propellerhead.de/
