Any powerlifters in the house?
    #3370329 - 11/16/04 08:02 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Most people here seem to train bodybuilding-style.

I did for a little while, but have stopped.  I plan on starting again January 1st (did someone say New Years Resolution?)  Now, I am not all out Westside style powerlifting, more of a powerlifting with a bit of bodybuilding style in there.  I'll also be working on my agility and using HIIT since I am not a big fan of long distance running :noway:

I benched 300 pounds at a body weight of 179, no feat
in the powerlifting world but that's my biggest lift.
I guess I train bb style tho. I was at around 6-7% bf
about 7 weeks ago when I did the lift, but have had
many life setbacks (including losing all my posessions
including my power cage gym - Powerbody Power rack n bench-
and about 500 Ibs of free weights, dumbells, Olympic
EZ curl bars etc) since which has made me unable to
train so I'm a bit fatter and less muscular now.
I'm also homeless in some sense (complicted) :frown:

I WAS also a long distance biathaon athlete for several years
until 7 weeks ago (had to sell my bike n I've been too down
to do my usual 10 km - 6 mile - daily runs un and down the mountain
here).

Damn... I was in good shape then... I feel more depressed now :frown:

I lift for strength. I guess "powerlifting" is included in that, but I also like sandbags and bodyweight exercises. I do 6 lifts: incline bench, squat, deadlift, weighted pull-ups, and rows. Then incline sit-ups, farmers walk, and grippers as extra stuff. I haven't worked out in about 3 weeks as I am losing weight for a fight coming up, but after this saturday I want to bulk up a bit. I might try westside for skinny bastards, which has a day for "bulking".

Details, please.

What I meant by powerlifting was training for max strength while striving to stay in the same weight class.

Power lifting can be extremely deleterious for your lower spine. While it may be an admirable pursuit in the short term, please consider the chronic lower back pain you may experience in L8er years....

Thanks for the caring advice. I'm lucky enough to be injury free currently, but I know I'm not Superman. Batman maybe....
