What did you do at the gym today? * 2
    #18529406 - 07/08/13 11:43 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

What's your gym routine? How often do you work out? What are your goals?

This week starts week #12, I spent 2 hours at the gym doing 60 minutes of cardio and the rest weights. I really love working out, I swear I could stay there all day if they sold food haha.

Ive recently been interested in buying a kettleball, I need to watch some youtube videos first lol.

Deadlift

10x70kg
8x90kg
6x110kg
5x130kg
5x140kg
5x150kg
5x160kg

Chinups
10x BW+25kg plate
10x "
10x "

Shoulder Press
10x20kg
10x30kg
8x40kg
6x50kg
5x55kg
5x55kg
4x60kg

Done in 45 mins. Had to cut it a bit short and skip rows, but was a good session. Doing shoulders on back day feels good too.
Lost a lot of strength due to illness last year, but soon I will be pressing my old numbers again. Can't wait.

What did I do while working out today?  Tweaked something.  My neck/upper back is uber-stiff.

any tips on things to do?  shoudl i be stretching it?  not stretching it?  rubbing it against a corner (like a massage?)

Today was:
Seated Dumbbell Press
Side Lateral Raise
Seated Bent-Over Rear Delt Raise
Barbell Curl
Dumbbell Curls
Dips
Some thing where i grab a 50bl plate and throw it up over my head

My current (see also:  3-month rotation) routine is
A: Leg Day
B: Arms/Shoulders
C: Chest/Back

I do:
A
rest
B
rest
C

repeat (i don't do a rest day between C and A, as my legs are never sore or overworked from my chest/back day)

Cutting up this next week so start to progress to higher reps and full body every other day

Today was bench/powerclean super set.
Then reverse grip bent over row (any guys looking for arm size, THIS") with even more power cleans
Then curls and ab pull downs as another super set.

The cleans killed me and my legs are this sexy purple color from the bar :p

i'm trying to get back into my routine after being on vacation for a month. it's tough. today went like dis-

2 sets of 6 deadlifts
and then these 4 exercises alternated, 2 sets each-
15 single leg lunge
15 pushups
15 romanian deadlifts
15 bent over rows

then i did about 15 minutes of HIIT. pretty good workout, hope it doesn't hurt too bad tomorrow.

I don't go to the gym. However, i did roughly 30 minutes of fast/strong freestyle swimming and then a moderately paced easy 5k run with 5 short hill sprint intervals at the end.

Then i rode my bike 8Km to pick up the girlfriend from work.

I had to skip today due to having the stomach flu. It is the first training day I've missed in almost 2 years. Would have been max effort bench though.

Back in Feb I had a ear infection and flu, I missed an entire week and it sucked.

Today is free bagel day at my gym, I did 35 min on the stair master, now I'm gonna go lift some weights

Stretching is important, you should make some time to do it at least a couple times a week (after you workout.)

It's true, it does help with the soreness, especially after you've done a new routine that is foreign to your muscles. Although I find that now that I'm taking in enough BCAA's through high protein consumption, I rarely get sore anymore unless I've maxed out on a higher weight than before.

As for me, I hit shoulders and traps HARD yesterday for about an hour and a half.

My friend said she wants to go to the gym with me today, so thank you for reminding me about stretching. I don't get sore that often anymore, but she never works out so it will be necessary for her.

My friend has different goals than me, she wants to "tone up" and develop a strong core, so I have a leg day all planned out for us today.

The routine will be:
-5 minutes of jump rope warmup on your tippy-toes
-10 minutes or a minimum of 5 sets of HIIT on the eliptical (again on your tippy-toes)
-5 sets of barbell full squats on the squat rack
-jumping squats with a barbell on your shoulders
-5 sets of deadlifts
-5 sets of leg press (while extending your toes at the very end so it acts as a lighter calf press too)
-5 sets of weighted walking lunges with dumbbells
-5 minutes of bench jumps (jumping squats on a bench or box basically)
-5 sets of leap frogs and side skips back to back
-5 sets of leg extension machine for quadriceps

I thought these were called side skips because that's what my trainer always called them, but after looking it up, I found out they are called side standing long jumps:

Definitely after.

I read a little while back and a physical therapist I talked to recently confirmed, that stretching before exercise isn't recommended anymore.  It reduces your abilities while not preventing any injury.  DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) can actually be caused just by stretching.

I used to get really sore when I first started working out but really the only thing that gets sore these days are my arms.

I can now raise 20lb dumbbells in each hand! Woot! I need to slow down on the lifting because I'm really bulking up and idk how I feel about it yet.

Congrats!!! Which exercise do you do the 20lb dumbbells with? Curls or something else? If it's curls then good job, you're doing the exact same weight I do for curls.

Clara: the foam roll is really good for breaking up lactic acid buildup. I've never tried it myself, but supposedly it's really great for getting rid of back pumps.

I am going to be changing my workout routine here in about a month or so, and when that happens I will probably get sore all over my body again.

Yeah I do curls with them and I also stand straight and raise my arms up on each side, I don't know the name of what I'm doing, lol it hurts but feels good.

My ultimate favorite weight machine would be the seated bicep curl.

I'm gonna switch up my workout as well, I want to do cardio twice a day and encorporate swimming.
