how about a 3 course meal and then maybe a dessert? like maybe a meat for the main, then 2 side dishes all on the same plate. or do you want something more extravagent?

you'll have to be more specific. What type of meat does she like? Vegetables? typical foods that she likes to eat. How much are you willing to spend?

This is just me in particular, but I love pasta, and a lot of it is relatively easy to make. So you can make that, salad, bread, and you should make her a chocolate cake!

Being woman who like to get physical on special ocassions maybe I can give a suggestion.....

Cook something light and tasteful.

Pasta is good, but can be heavy if you eat too much.  Fish, chicken, some vegetable and a good side salad with a piece of chocolate cake can do wonders with a good bottle of wine or a stiff gin and tonic!!

Or is she likes to eat meat   Get a nice N.Y. strip steak,  cook it off the way she likes.  Then cut it in half.  Half for you, half for her.  Saute some green and red pepper, add a little onion, serve with some french fries!!

Did I mention the bottle of wine or gin and tonic

Oh, and put a nice flower centerpiece on the table.  Color up the room a bit.  Make her feel like she's in a "new environment" .

GOOD LUCK!!

Lana

My easiest and favorite 1st course are garlic mushrooms with some cheese.

Scuse my french.

Simply get the steam off some shrooms, fill the cap with some fresh garlic, some onion choped real small. A bit of vegetable oil or use garlic butter. Insert a thick piece of cheese in there and let it melt in the oven until the cheese his getting thiss weet golden color.

Bon appetit.

I dont like alcool taste myself but I guess this would be great with some whine instead of oil.

my general rule of thumb is to steer away from cooking oniony or garlicy foods for special occasions.

those kinds of meals are better for the average day. that does sound good though, what you posted.

cheese/cracker course

smoked gooda (sliced)
brie (preferably warmed in the oven)
crackers of choice
sliced, toasted baguette

spinach salad:

bag of prewashed baby spinach
dried cranberries
simple vinagrette dressing (recipes online or buy a sweet berry vinagrette)
walnuts (preferably caramelized in a pan with nuts, butter and sugar)
blue cheese or other

dinner:

steak!

ny or ribeye, washed, dried, salted well, seared/grilled, finished in oven

grilled asparagus, olive oil, shallots, lots of salt

optional: roasted red/yellow potatoes with oil, parsely, shallots

dessert:

buy a goddamn cake, you've already done enough work!!!

the best thing is to KEEP IT SIMPLE

stick with basic ingredients and recipes with few steps

this also makes timing and presentation easier

you can do a lot of prep before hand to make assembly
simple so that you can spend time with her and less
in the kitchen.
