Tripping to the Grateful Dead
    #3296679 -

I haven't done this yet, and it probably will be awhile before I'm able to. Anyway, I bought the "Workingman's Dead" CD and was listening to it a bit last night. I'm not sure what I think. I wonder if I have to be altered to really get into it. So I'm saving the rest of the CD for a shroom trip one of these days.

Did you have to trip to the Grateful Dead before you were able to enjoy and get into them?

Yeah, I listened to my first Floyd CD (the Dark Side of the Moon) while on shrooms, and now I love them.

I suppose it might be the same with the GD.

I loved the Dead before tripping to them, but it probably will alter your perception... You know who else is great while tripping? Jimmy Hendrix!!!! Take my word for it, it was an amazing experience for me! My brother put it so well (he was tripping with me and felt the same appreciation): it's freedom in his music..

Let me know if you get a chance to try it, if Hendrix is to your taste in the first place

I always feel like I'm tripping when I listen to the Dead, or they make me wantta trip. I actually think the music sounds better not tripping, but makes more sense tripping.

too high of frequencies.
I personally need something low and physiologically-compatable.

psychological compatibilty is always key, but for me hendrix is very high on the compatibility spectrum.

i got into the dead long before i had ever tripped, in fact, i really didt know they were a tripper band untill i started getting into them,  then i listened to them trippin one time, and it was like OH MY GOD.

i suggest you not listen to the studio albums while trippin at first, it lacks that raw energy that you can only get live.  workinmans dead is also more of a countryish acoustic album.

i suggest the following albums for a first time listen while tripping (if you have to listen to an album vs downloaded show)
Live/Dead
Live at the fillmore 2-11-69
Fallout from the phil zone (disc 1)

if you have broadband, pm me, and i can get you access to these. (or even if you have 56k )
