Is this a reliable indicator of potency (Pics)...

Afoaf was wondering, because the first flush did not have this kind of bluing and he was rather dissapointed in them. He took 3.5 grams with his gf and it gave them about a borderline level 2/3, but he was less than impressed.
Is this a good sign of more potency, and how much more potent should I expect them to be if so? Shouldn't 3.5 grams being kicking my arse?
This is Sporechicks EQ BTW, third flush. Thanks for any info...

Here's what my pet monkey Shaggy said:
{"Blueness" doesn't always mean their potent... blueness can mean that they have lost alot of their "juices" .... i suggest next time you put your fruits into a drying chamber AS SOON as you pick it... } peace

A lot of people will disagree with this, but no, I don't think blueing is necessarily a sign of potency.
So there, flame away:D

In reply to:

Actually, this one had been fan drying immediately after harvesting.
So maybe reliable was too strong a word, is this a good "approximation" of potency or do i have to eat 5 grams or more next time?

3.5 grams is a safe borderline to try unknown potency. 5 grams could send you to hyperspace ;).

In my experiance, when large amounts of blueing occur most of the potency has been released.

If it blues fast and all over the place then that does indicate that it is potent, although you cant really tell how much. And if it goes through excessive bluing, then it has lost some of its potency. I wouldnt use this to pick my dose, but it is an indicator that you have some good fruits. I would go with 3.5 grams again, that way you will know for sure if it was more potent or not. If that puts you on your ass(it should, I usually do 2-4 grams and get nice visuals, 4 grams puts me on my ass for a couple hours) then your good, otherwise your probably a hardhead and need more.

Ok Mr.Pink .. you were "fan drying " them .. .in essence blowing more oxygen on them ... by "drying chamber" i ment a tupper ware container with dessicant and *maybe* a fan in there... also... you should get as much oxygen out of your drying chamber as possible(there are many ways of doing theis)... why is it that care should only be taken when trying to "store" mushrooms and not actualy "drying " them?????...peace ...

hey mr. pink. funny--my friend had the same thing happen to him recently--extreme blueing with very light handling... let us know how they are-if you think they are more potent or not.

If you test bruise a shroom and it goes quick and dark, the rest of the batch is probably potent. But it's important as the other members mentioned, to harvest, dry and store your cubensis correctly! Oxidation of Psilocybin to psilocin will occur because of oxygen, light, pressure and heat. so keep your harvested shrooms in a dark cold dry chamber, don't touch them and let them get dry as hell, them bag them up and put them in the freezer for doses later on. be nice to the shrooms, remember oxidization turns Psilocybin into psilocin and that is unstable, becoming inacitve in 48-82+(?) hours.
I really do not know the half lives of psilocin or anything, but a mashed up mushroom won't get you high unless you are about to swallow it soon!
