Cultivating in a college dorm.

I was wondering, would it be entirely too difficult to cultivate mushrooms in a college dorm? I have a huge (almost walk-in) closet that I could use.

Do cakes give off a noticeable odor? As in, could someone standing in a room, with the closet door closed, relatively far away from the cake, smell it?

I'm also a complete noob when it comes to cultivating... I'd have to follow a guide.

What do the experts advise? Thanks ahead of time.

That's where I cultivate my shrooms. But I live in an appartment style dorm, meaning I have my own room and bathroom and I just share a common space and kitchen with 3 other people--all of whom enjoy shrooming. If that wasn't the case, if I had a roomate and communal bathrooms, etc. I would advise against growing. But, to answer your question, no it doesn't smell. (And if it did, you should worry--most like contams.)

Look up Hippie's In-Vitro Tek. It takes very little room and there is no odor whatsoever.

HAHA i would not advise of growing in a dorm. You have no rights and privacy in a dorm. make friends w/ upperclassmen and grow at their house/apartment. BUT you could get a way w/ it. GL!

Thanks a lot guys. I'll think about it, and if all else fails I'll plan for next semester... I really don't think it'd be too big a deal. I only have one roommate, smoking (cigs and otherwise) is allowed in our room (though technically not permitted by the school), my suitemates would be cool with it, and I'm good friends with my RA.

I'll give it some thought though... it does seem risky. I'm still so tempted.

When I lived in a dorm years ago, there was an RA whom my neighbor across the hall used to sell weed to.  Then one day he came knocking on the door with the female RA from down the hall because someone smelled pot and they were going to find out who it was so they could bust us.  We kind of had a reputation :stoned:, not to mention the inside scoop our RA had so they came to us first....it wasn't us that time and some other assholes just weren't being careful. :rolleyes:

Anyway, they have to do what they have to do...I wouldn't trust a soul!  Dig?

wrong, talking about it or showing people or trusting people to grow w/ you will get your shit stolen or narked on. keep it to yourself and do an invitro tek and you'll have no worries. the only problem you may have is preparing jars w/o anybody asking questions. make sure to hide your operation well and you'll be fine. make sure you are positive that your roommate isn't the type to snoop around your stuff when you are gone. i didn't grow in my dorm but i know i could have.

my friend did it when we were in the dorms. we had our own bathroom and own closets so smell was not an issue. The hardest part was pressure cooking the jars. He did this off campus at a friends house and jsut brought them back to the dorm.

Yea, dont worry about the smell at all, i suggest purchasing some presteralized jars, since im assuming you have no pressure cooker. Then get some spores and go for it. Just be careful, you dont want a hobby to get you kicked out of school... Just think about it first, is it going to be worth it???

Where would I be able to get presteralized jars? That would be perfect... In fact the main thing that I was hung up on was the lack of a pressure cooker.

Jars that have been PCed. Look at the sponsers... they have good ones there. YOu can also get a Mex A print. That way even if you don't want to grow shrooms invitro you can get an ounce or two of sclerotia without ever opening the jars.

one thing to always rember is no one ever thinks they are going to get caught. So the question is is this riskier than it has to be? I recently thought over this exact same question. Eventually I desided doing it in this atmosphere is just risk my life dosent need. Also the problems that would come up if I did get caught did not justify it. You have to make the desssion but I just see it as risk that is not needed.
