In most cases if you have smell that is a sign of something fowl (like bacteria)My biggest concern would be having a roomate see or tell someone else about it.

The chances are, if your in the dorm, you can do it and it has a high chance of sucess. Only problem is, if you do somehow come across a resident supervisor that walks in your room (and trust me it happens - no stopping it) it will occur atleast three times your dorm year. But anyway, if that happens, you can get kicked out of school. Not the dorms, but SCHOOL. Thats the shitty party. But good luck if you already started, mycleium doesn't need light so you dont have to worry about that, but your gonna have to leave bins or something to light it for the fruiting stage.

it's all about the Hippie-Tek for that situation. that's where I am, and leaving them in a little container with a light on for a month solid is perfect...you just harvest every now and then and the rest you just leave growing. just harvest at night or early in the morn when your roomate is gone and you'll be golden. be careful, and you'll be successful!

my school the RA's are all students who are stoners, and are only allowed in your room first and lest day of the semester to check for damage, and the faculty isn't allowed in the dorms unless they are invited. We drink beers with the security guard. cops arn't allowed on campus unless they;re called in. it rocks!

It really depends wht you are trying to do.. If you just want to trip with friends then producing the fruiting body is not required. Just produce sporewater or innoculate and grow on an edible substrate like rice or rye. Then you can just throw the jars in a box and no one is the wiser. Personally this is what I would do. If you want to produce fruiting bodies I really do not think you would have any problem with jars on a limited scale. As far as producing on weat staw for volume, forget it. The key here is to TELL NO ONE! Tell your friends that someone gave you the shrooms. One big mouth and your fun is over.

I did grow in the dorms twice, both times my roomates knew, I discessed it with them before I started. BE VERY CARFUL AND TRUST NO ONE! is rule number one don't tell anyone except your roomate that you are growing. Believe me rumors spread and thats how you get busted. Make sure you are very clear to your roomate not to tell ANYONE this is VERY VERY serius shit. Ok now the fun part. I had one of those plastic trunks that you can buy at wal*mart or Kmart the kind that you can put a lock on. Then I had a six tupperwares that fit inside nicely (now that I look back on it 2-liter bottles would have been better). So basically you have a bunch of poor man terrariums locked up inside a trunk so no one can stumble across them. For sterilization I boiled the jars in one of those minipots that you can plug into the wall for about a hour and a half. Now I know at my college they had a room inspector go around once a semester. He just checked to make sure you did not have a microwave which you were not allowed to have and he checked all of the plugs to make sure there were not fire hazards like 10 things plugged into one outlet. Make sure the this guy cannot find your project. They also have someone check for roaches that goes in your room with out you knowing. So, make sure everything is locked up, leave no room for suspicion. You should not have to worry about smell because your containers should be sealed tightly. Like I said I used tupperware (lettuce crisper container) no smell would leak out of one of those. As far a maintenance you need to air them a out once or twice a day and give them light at the same time. When you do the airing out you will have some mushrooms smell, so do it when no one is going to bother you for a while.

At my dorm the roof was made with push-out panels. I hid a few things up there in my day. Just a reminder.
