    #3288554 - 10/28/04 11:41 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Can I use

Philips Durmax Soft white fluros (60w, 830 lumens)to grow some marijuana through vegetation? Currently, I have a 430w HPS, but I need light for the veg. stage and I found these lying around

it would take alot of them to get good growth you want at least 60 wats per sqfoot to get a good healthy growth youd be better with plant bulbs

Why not use the HPS for veg. growth as well? Start the seeds under the fluros, then when they get a little size, get them under the HPS.

But to answer your question, yes you can use them. A mix of cool white and soft white is supposed to be best from what I recall. Also, keep the fluros real close to the plants and keep a fan on them. The fan will not only cool the plants, but resisting the wind also strengthens the stalk(important).

using the fluros as a supplement to the hps during veg would be a good idea but just fluros won't grow much over a foot (at least a thick healthy plant) even then it will be scraggly. just make sure you don't burn the plants with the hps keep it high and the fluros right above the plants, and yeah you can clone a flowering plant though it might hurt the yield a bit depending on the cut placement.
