will peroxide (diluted in sterile h20) kill spores? if not will it cause stunted growth or other un-wanted side effects?
my friend has always used a bit of peroxide in her mushroom clone solutions- but i was wondering bout the spores.
Also what is the best way to spawn horse dung with pf cakes. i dreamed of getting very dry horse dung crumbled with a bit of vem. and spring water, then pasturize, then add a sterile unopened pf cake (b+) which has been blended into "sand" to the mix...... distribute with clean hands, let colonize, mabey case, then fruit? how much water and what pasturize temps and times?

lallafa.. Here's a good compost formula. The method you describe sounds like it would work, only don't grind the cakes to sand, just break them up into pea to marble size chunks. The chucks will provide the nutrients needed for the mycelium colonize the manure. Otherwise, it would most likely die off.
Make sure it's covered in water and try to keep the temp around 170. Don't go above 180. The time will depend on how filled your container is.

H2O2 can kill the mycelium, but usualy the mycelium will only be slightly shocked by a diluted concentration of H2O2 in water. The mycelium will eventualy build a tolerance to the H2O2 over time. If this is started with a G1 master, by the time it is divided up to G3 or G4 the culture will be more accustomed to larger ammounts(H2O2) but by this time hopefully the culture is free of contaminates that accompanied the clone tissue and additives will be unnessary. I am pretty blazed right now so forgive my rambeling.

as said, h202 kills spores.
I just made some horse manure to be used as spawn for rye grain. I got patties from the field then left them lying on wire suspended 3-4" above the ground using sticks stuck in the ground for 5 days till they were completely dry(they smelled like dirt, not bad at all) then I placed them in the oven at 175 for 3 hours(dry). Then I let it sit in some water and then strained it and squeezed out excess water. Placed in roasting tins and spawned with a quart of colonized grain. The two things I would have done differently would be to add water before pastuerizing, it was too much work trying to add water to the manure and keep it sterile. And I would have used 2 jars of spawn, mine is 75% colonized after a week with one jar. No compost is needed, manure works fine.

lallafa.. the compost would be more nutritional than a dung tek recipe. You'd get bigger shrooms. Compare any DB pics w/ some dung pics and you'll see what I mean.
