Birdseed and water question.

I'm using birdseed to spaw some mycelium grown on honeywater. My question is:
How much water/humidity shoulld be seen inside the jar ?
My problem is i can see the water covering more than half of the birdseed mixture but when i shake it it gets absorved by the upper part untill it rests and fills the bottom again.
I would apreciate some help

Sounds like you screwed up. Has the water been like that the whole time? What ratio of Birdseed to water did you use.

You might be about to salvage by loosening the lid; allowing the water to evaporate. Otherwise, drain the water off, re-sterilize and re-innoculate.

Yes i agree with the other replies. Sounds like too much water in those jars. I don't really think it would work to let the water evaporate though. My friend says to start over and this time steep your BS first. Also when you innoculate don't use much more than 1 or two cc's of solution.
