I have a few questions about casing, first of all, what is h2o2?(h2o2/water solution in the sea of shrooms tek)Where can I get it/ how much?..... in the casing, if you crumble cakes, does the mycilium colonate through the 50/50 or top layer, so it is totally covered in mycilium? Also, what is the point of birdseed cakes as oppose to rice cakes? do they colonize faster? less chance of contaminant? better flushes???? Your help is greatly appreciated...

Peroxide: http://www.google.com/search?q=h2o2&btnG=Google+Search .........in the casing, if you crumble cakes, does the mycilium colonate through the 50/50 or top layer, so it is totally covered in mycilium....... It shouldn?t be totaly covered. Read http://www.shroomery.org/findorgrowthem.php?View=docs&doc=43 actualy read the whole Section http://www.shroomery.org/findorgrowthem.php?View=casing. .......Also, what is the point of birdseed cakes as oppose to rice cakes...... They have more nutrients therefore theoretically greater flushes. The Shroomery has a great SEARCH FUNCTION that can be accessed at the top of the page by pressing the button with the name Search . --------------------------------------- kickme.to/mushroomsEdited by Anno on 05/26/01 04:47 AM.

hey ess! please don't take any offense, but all of your questions can be answered by working your way through the vast amount of information on the internet. here at the shroomery to begin with (read ALL of the teks, do searches, etc) as well as other sites. if you are really into it, and actually trying your hand at growing, i would suggest buying a book or two as well. H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide. every grocery store/pharmacy/7.11, etc.. cheap. the casing layer will be anywhere from 20% to 60% colonized when you initiate the pinning cycle. the mycelium wil be at least visible in all the valleys of the casing. birdseed has a larger spectrum of nutrition so, theoretically, there might be faster colonization, and it might support larger flushes. the chance of contams is probably greater though, especially if you don't have a pressure cooker.
