cakes with no umph...help!

so i've been trying to case some cakes i've had for months (b+). they look and smell fine, except they're a little smaller than they used to be. although they're colonized, when i break them up they don't seem too colonized, pretty moist though.

i put verm. down on the bottom of my tray, crumbled the cake, put saran wrap over it and a day and a half later it hasn't changed a bit. i don't think i have enough humidity, but would it cause them to work their magic this slow? have the cakes "gone bad"? i've never experienced this problem in the past...

any help appreciated....

id try to rehyrdrate them somehow....that sounds like your prob
