I think he could be right, and may actually be refering to hallucinogens. What he would be argueing is that the experiences induced by psychedlics are "unatural" and take the spiritual mind in a wrong direction.
If you have ever had a bad trip you know that it can put you in a bizzare and negative headspace for a while before you return (more or less) to normal. But you never really do get back to normal, and those weird thoughts and experiences are permanantly a part of you.

no worries! :smile:  we are immortal beings outside these bodies :heart: totally protected and safe, always. to think otherwise, is an illusion.(not what it seems!)

Well..you can have your chakras out of balance, and the aura can be all fucked up.. and you can get all sorts of karmic patterns piling up on your soul... but those things are just temporary.. and can be easily rectified. And I would say there are MUCH more harmful things to be worrying about.. then "drugs"...like RF radiation, irradiated foods, cell phones, nuclear fission, pollution and SUVs. haha. But even then those things just effect your physical body. The soul is eternal, therefore.. eternal. The astral realm is intimately attached to the physical and that is where some nightmares and astral abuse takes place. Where lucifer runs free. I've said too much.
