recovering from brain damage
    #1985020 - 10/06/03 10:35 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Does anyone know ways to recover from brain damage? I jog everyday and lift weights, but is there more stuff I can do to make my brain and nervous system recover faster?

Play chess, read lots, there is most likely programs and activites that you coulod find out about which would increase your memory.

Lots of drug use. I'm sorta an addict. I had a stroke once from dxm which started all of my mental problems.

You could see a neuropsychologist - they could help you with strategies to deal with any cognitive changes and would know of other services etc available.

Try taking this: http://www.iherb.com/mentalcalrity.html or some other form of Hericium Erinaceus, and other supportive mycomedicinals. Obviously, the web designer that made that link wasn't taking it at the time, but my mom swears by it and it has helped my grandfather who is affected by a type of dementia. Also I like this part: " Japanese research has shown that Lion's Mane produces compounds called eninacines, which are strong stimulators to nerve growth factor synthesis.? These compounds stimulate neurons to regrow, which supports normal cognitive function, muscular coordination and response, and neurological repair."

In addition, you should do some research on nootropics. I don't know a whole lot about them, but I think they're definatly worth a try.

I hope this helps.

What are you trying to rebuild, or in other words, what exactly is damaged? what in your life has changed as a result of the stroke?

Are you still using drugs? if so, then I doubt you will make any progress untill that is taken cared of first.

Your brain is not gonna get any better from weight-lifting!
Try to learn a language. That's useful and also a training for your brain.

Cognative therapy will help. It may seen stupid and triveal. But you have to relearn how to use your brain. I have been having troubles with focusing my thoughts and retaining information. So I have been looking into this. When I get insurance I will be going but untill then I will have to stay a little stupid.

Nutrition is probably very important... along with vitamins.
I am not a doctor, though...

Be healthy and positive. Strive for mental stimulation. It's a bumpy road ahead, but you have that 4x4 waiting in the garage. The SUV just has some minor problems, easily fixable.

Good luck man. We're here for you. I was very into heavy dosing of DXM weekly for a long time, also. Reading has really helped recover just omy ability to think logically.
