Probably not for cakes. You want it higher. I assume you have a hygrometer. How far up (inches) do the bubbles travel IN the perlite, and how much perlite is ABOVE the water line?

I'd say the Perlite is 3 inches deep, the water is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. The bubble wand is probably an inch high with the suction cups and the raised bottom of the tub, making the bubbles go through anywhere from 1/2 an inch to an inch of water. I'm using a cheap reptile hygrometer, and initially the humidity stabilized at 85.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll try to get some pics asap.

Would another wand/more water increase the humidity?

How long has it been turned on for with the top on? You might want to add another bit of perlite and water so that the bubbles travel further.

I think less water will. I could be wrong, though. I only have enough water to cover my wands in my PMP. about 1/2 inch.

I have the exact same problem. Using the same setup but a slight bigger PMP. The humidity is at a constant 80% never gone above 85%. There is about an inch of perlite and about a half inch of water. Enough water to cover my two wands. Id like to find out how to fix this problem because i'm having really small mushrooms I think due to this reason.

try lowering the water level. Perlite wicks water fairly well. So you don't need that much water on the bottom. Idea is to have as many wicked(damn) perlite exposed to air as possible.

And I think the air wands cause a bit more splashing in the middle, too. Just my suggestion.

It's been running for like week, week and a half straight chilling at 80% humidity. I'll think about reducing the water level, and seeing what that does.
