microwaving vermiculite
    #3217948 - 10/05/04 11:47 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

A friend of mine was experiencing contamination (trich) on several cakes she fruited in a PMP recently. She noticed that the contam seemed to stem around the top radius of the cakes where the verm was placed. She therefore attributed the contamination to the fact that she did not sterilize the verm before dunking/rolling/double-end casing.

So for future cakes she tried to microwave some verm in a microwave safe container, and the verm melted right through the bottom of the plastic! She was quite surprised, and assumed that there must be an alternate method short of using glass to microwave verm to sterilize. She assumes that there must be ground up stone or something that gets so hot that it melts the plastic, so is it better to use glass or does she just have some really weird verm?

The stuff that looks like contams is probably just bruised mycellium from rolling, I really wouldn't worry about it.

If she still wants to try and clean the verm, all you really need to do is pasteurize. Put in a tray and throw in the oven on 180 degrees for an hour.

Do you have to sterilize your verm before doing a dunk and roll?

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.
