I found this question asked on another message board and wanted to share it here;
If you had a friend who talked to you the way you talk to yourself, would you still want that person for a friend?

I don't think I would. I'm sick of my own attitude as it is!

love has no conditions
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

A few years ago, a doctor tried testing me with a similar question,
I ate his liver with some farva beans and a nice kiante.
Good question.

Of course.
I've always felt there's far too little of me in this world, after all.

I wasn't sure if anyone would reply or not. I thought it was an interesting question to ask yourself and answer if even in private.
I suppose, in some cases, this is where the expression "we are our own worst enemies" comes from.
It pays to keep track of how you talk to yourself about yourself and life for a while.
I want to be hyper observant of this in myself for the next week and see what I notice.
All in all, I wish new more me's.

I can be good at bashing myself when I completely fuck something up, but I'd rather it be me than someone else. Someone with whom I work recently tried to give me shit about something I had done and I ate his liver with "...some farva beans and a nice kiante." I like me, and I wish there were more of me. I am nonjudgmental, I live and let live, I don't criticize or put people down, I forgive mistakes, etc. In other words, I am the second coming of christ. Seriously, I am pretty easy to get along with and pretty accepting of all sorts of people. I'd like to have more of me around. The world would be an easier place to live.

I'd like to have more of you's around too frog!
Ya know, like what you said, some times it's good to have a friend who grabs you by the shoulders and says "get a grip" or "face what ya did". When we do that with ourselves, I don't think we are coming down hard without the intent to make things better by it.
Like you said, I would rather it be me doing it then another, it's easier to accept coming from yourself for some reason.
But some people are just hard on themselves and move into self punishing behavior. If people find they have a 'friend" like that in themselves, this little exercise can serve as a wake up call to the type of support, encouragement and acceptance they are giving to themselves and to realise that they can change their own inner influence on themselves to better their life.
It's interesting to become aware of this inner dialog and what sort of friend you are being to yourself.

Ty, Jig. And I have a question for you along these lines...
You said that "some times it's good to have a friend who grabs you by the shoulders and says "get a grip" or "face what ya did".
Does anyone ever listen when you do something like that? I don't think any one listens. Or they get defensive.
I have learned not to show someone their mistakes. It's kind of pointless. If someone's behavior causes discomfort in my life, I will figure out a way to do things so that either that person's intrusion into my life is diminished, or permanently stopped.

I do beleive most people just get defensive when others do it to them. I don't think anyone likes being told what to do think or feel and thats why. People just want to be understood.
Maybe they plant a seed or get your attention for doing your own work later in private inner counsil, I don't know.
For that reason, I think its a strength to be able to do it for yourself if you can accept it and turn it around.

That is a really interesting question. I think if someone else spoke to me the way I usually speak to myself, I would not be stoked. Thanks for making me think about the way I treat myself..........
