in terms of removing the black seeds from the wbs, do you scoop them out when u add water? how bad is it to have them in there? i have noticed that they float to the top almost straight away once the soaking water has been added

do you really think so? He posts information that id read for the 100th time in 2000. Perhaps rather than asking the same question over and over, we should look at searching and finding some of the original pioneering work on substrates which

Has anyone done L-Tryptophan experiments similar to the tryptamine experiments? It's certainly an important precursor.

Just a few notes on the rest of this post...

Avoid sugarwater/honeywater... There is a reason that scientists don't just mix up sugarwater petri dishes. Use malt extract or potato dextrose(PD). The malt is easy to find at brewshops or online. The PD you can make yourself, google for instructions.

Filter disks on the top of your jars are a waste of time. The mycelium has plenty of air in the jar to last until it's fully colonized. If you use liquid inoculate air exchange is not a problem. It's not really a problem for multi-spore either, unless you have slow mycelium.

Thanks everyone, especially Doc34, as I have learned quite a few helpful tips about using WBS in this post.

step 1=soaking overnight
to allow the endospores to germinate(some are able to live through the pc in their dormant state,so we allow them to germinate first, then pc and kill the little bastards.
step 2=rinse to remove any unwanted additives(fungicides, etc)
step 3=simmering is done only to add water content
step 4=pc to sterilize and kill the already germinated endospores.

Doc, that sounds like sooo much hard work!

I just simply add the correct amount of millet to the jar, add the correct water ratio and pc.

Easy as 1 2 3 !

So then the rinsing and soaking and simmmering and rinsing also will get rid of any chemicals (aside from birdcote)? I've only used organic rye and popcorn up to this point. But we don't have to look for organic white millet/WBS? Thanks!
