Yes hateful.

If you're dumb enough to mock the Holy Prophet and Allah in a Shariat state you deserve to die.

Well I'm mocking the so-called 'prophet' as a delusional child molester who espoused a barbaric belief system only fit for goat herders, camel riders and wife beaters. If there is an Allah, I'm challenging him to strike me down, right here, right now. What do you want to bet that your imaginary friend won't do a thing?

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Can we get some kind of class-action bet? I like these odds.

Okay, we've all had our fun, now it's time to get this thread back on topic, folks. It's not about the image problem of the Religion of Peace (TM) but of right-Libertarianism.

okay back to their image problem---what they need is a figurehead who is overtly compassionate and argues as a practical libertarian. the type of libertarian like ss7 or evolving rather than a principled libertarian gun nut who doesn't come across as giving a shit about anyone else (what did he say, something like 'i'd shoot someone before they forced me to pay for someone else's health care'?)

Jesus... sweet Jesus, I'm still alive! C'mon allah, is that all you got? I fart in your general direction, I spit on the shadows of your believers, I blow rasberries into the sirocco of mysticism and laugh at the impotence of a 'supreme being' born of ignorance and fear...

Oh yeah, right wing libertarians have an image problem, they too easily support war on the flimsiest of pretexts and offer support for the ever growing warfare state when they should be taking principled stands against it. They too easily support the monetarist policies of Milton Friedman and Alan Greenspan who pay lip service to liberty on one hand while being tools of the state and centralized power on the other hand. They often conflate increased government efficiency with somehow being on the path towards more liberty - they support privatization of government programs which serve to lessen the liberty of individuals (prisons anyone?). They too often are apologists for corporations when they should be asking the fundamental question of why should legal fictions be given more rights than flesh and blood beings. They give too little thought to ideas expressed by Thomas Paine in Agrarian Justice and the arguments brought up about Royal Libertarians. Well, that's all for now...

Exactly. Hypothetical situation. If a member of the NAACP or Urban League were to step and say "What would the Liberarian Platform to for black america" an accurate response would be "Nothing".

But that's not the answer that should be given. The answer should be, by promoting individual responsibility within all cultures, including black america, we believe our platform and idealology would empower blacks to rise from their current standards and have the pride that they did it themselves. So one day a black man can sit in a corporate office, or own his own business and say with pride.. "I'm the slave, destined to overcome his master".

Or something to that effect. For as wonderful with economics as Libertarians are or claim to be, you'd think they'd figure out how to "sell themselves" a little better rather than being the "alternate right wing party". From face value only.. it's like going to the grocery store and seeing "Republican" cereal in a nice box with a familiar cartoon character's face on it, while "liberatarian" cereal is the crap in the bag at the end of the aisle.

Where the reality is.. Libertarians have the better points of Republicans (or what republicans "used" to stand for or claimed to be.. (small government, pro 2nd amendment, few or no "handouts") and what most Dems/Greens are also looking for.. a way to lower healthcare cost, equality racially, in terms of gender and sexual preference. They promote freedom of speech, where the majority of left and right are wrong, one crying "obscenity" the other crying for "political correctness". The "selling points" thus far, have seem to be dominated by the more right-wing appealing agendas.. and i don't think that's going to do the party any good in the long run.

I consider myself a moderate libertarian, and the image problem I see is that libertarians put way to much focus on gun and drug liberties. Libertarians often go to extremes in thier views. If the LP is to change its image, and thus gain popularity, then it needs to become more moderate about some of its views. The party should take focus away from repealing gun and drug laws, and focus more on being a moderate party who believes strongly in both a free market and civil liberties.
