More king boletes and a few chanterelles
    #3131587 -

Went on a mushroom hunt with @cro and Psilygirl this afternoon.  we were mainly looking for chanterelles but they were few and far between where we were looking, I finally found some though , and we also scored a good amount of king boletes and Boletus mirabilis so I can't really complain.  I was kind of lazy about getting pictures but I got a few, here they are:

Some king boletes, we really got into them for a while then they just abruptly stopped.  got plenty though , quit picking more after a while and there were a good amount of new ones just popping up.

my few chanterelles, C. cibarius I think.  don't laugh Suntzu and you southerners, I did a lot of climbing up and down steepass hills for these  .  We saw a few more but they were to old to keep.  Currently accepting tips on finding more , I know there has to be an easier way, heh.

Laetiporus sulphureus/gilbertsonii, too old to eat but it was a nice sized fruiting all around this stump so I got some pics

not sure what these are, just thought they looked cool

theres what I came home with, Psily and @cro got a nice bag of boletes too.

That's all

Cheers to the locals.

I want your honest opinion on King Boletes. Do you guys think they taste good? Most of my books rave about them, but when I ate one, I thought texture was too tough and the flavor wasn't nearly as good as I expected. I give them a thumbs down.

hrmmm, I dunno man, I think the kings are good. IMO they're best sliced thin and fried/sauted until the excess water is gone and they start getting browned and crispy. Unless they're really small buttons it's a good idea to remove some or all of the pores. Went up again today, no chanterelles (besides the wooly chanterelles which were all over) but we found some more king boletes and a nice fruiting of Hericium abietis, among other things. Here's some more pics:

H. abietis

Wooly chanterelles (Gomphus floccosus)

A nice amanita pin, didn't see any mature ones but I'm thinking A. pantherina

Witches butter (Tremella mesenterica)

yes i definitely think i will like them better after we cut out the pores!

@cro also didn't like the texture too much so we made them extra crispy!

good pics DH, ours are of the same stuff so no need for doubles!  and those chantrelles are ours... in 2 weeks!!! :eyemouth:
