I FOUND KING BOLETES IN CANADA can i trip off em?

I found these big ass king bolete mushrooms that I was able to identify with a book. The book only told me that it was blue bruising (which it was, i checked) but not whether it was edible or not. It was in Northern Manitoba on an island in a lake, in a mossy forest-like area. The caps ranged from 3 to 6 inches across, dark brown colored, and like I said it bruises blue. Are they edible? Do they contain psilocybin? Are they SAFE? Thanks for any info...

LOL... I dont think you have king boletes man, and if you did have king boletes, they are choice edibles, not intoxicants. King Boletes, to my knowledge, do not bruise blue. I have no idea what kind of mushroom you are talking about, but obviously you shouldn't try it. DO NOT EAT THIS MUSHROOM. Wait until you have a positive ID. But I can tell you it is not King bolete, and if it were, you can't trip off of one.

Does it have gills or pores? Most boletes have pores.

Read the damn faq and learn how to describe a shroom also.

Whoa there buddy.

You need to do a lot more reading.

OKay, first off: King Boletes or Boletus edulis do NOT bruise BLUE!

Secondly, if your book did not mention if they were edible or not, I dont know if Id trust your findings or your book. They are good eating. They do not make you trip.

But you do NOT have a King bolete. We would need a heck of a lot more information before we could give you an ID.

I would definetly NOT eat your mushroom until you get a positive ID.

Yah man,eat it and see what it does,if u dont die post back and tell us how tha puking was,people always think that if the shroom bruises blue they can eat it or it contains psilocybe,i wish people like this would go ahead and eat it just to be taught a lesson,read and learn about what your doing,i bet you dont even know what the study of mushrooms is called!anyways im not tryin to be a smartass but just read a little,i had to find out the hard way too,but im just tryin to teach a little,prolly sounds more like im tryin to preach a little,but sorry for tha yelling,lol,Peaceout!

Any book that would describe a King Bolete without saying it was edible, would be a damn stupid book, lol. They are supposedly the best edibles out there, so im pretty sure your book would mention that.

Boletes do not contain psychoactive chemicals.

And the King Bolete does not even stain blue.

The Boletes which stain blue are all to be considered poisonous and should all be avoided.

And please, never eat wild mushrooms unless they have been properly identified by a professional.

Amanitaman, you are quickly working on a one way ticket out of these forums.

First I give you a warning about post whoring, and it still doesnt stop. Now you suggest that a user eat a potentialy poisonous mushroom. I don't care if you were joking or not, it's not funny at all.

Like I said, if you haven't got something constructive to say, DON'T SAY IT AT ALL. There is no need to agree with someone when you aren't sure what you're talking about.
