A couple questions about cubensis

I was out shrooming today and found about 10 mushrooms that look an awful lot like cubensis. The only problem is they were growing in someone's yard not in a cow pasture. Also, the veil isnt jet black like Ive seen in most pictures. The veil is white on most and some are brown and white. My questions are can cubensis grow in just a yard and not cow poop? Also does the veil start off white and then turn black? Why does it turn black? Oh and do they bruise? Thanks

Warning: I am not an expert, but hunt cubensis regularly.
1.Not to my knowledge.
2.Yes.
3.I think it has to do with spores dropping on it.
4.They bruise blue.

Be careful dude. You most likely do not have a P. cubensis even though they have rarely been found growing in lawns. Your description could easily be a deadly mushroom. If you want to know what they are, give the info requested here. Include spore print. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1
and yes the veil darkens due to the accumulation of falling spores.

the veil turns a kind of purple, the spores are purple

Look in my thread I recently made, I grabbed a few cubensis lookalikes from some yards that are actually poison, if yours matches mine, toss 'em.

I am new, I will say, and I will refrain from giving advice seeing as how there's smart guys like you that know much, much more into this than I do.
