db kit trouble

in my rye grain bags i see this dusty shit all over it. will this hurt my mycelium growth?

it looks like cocoa mix except a lite brown. and its covering the rye berries.

It might be millions of spores from a contaminant. Take the jar OUTSIDE, far away from your incubation room, shake it a little, if you see dust, throw that shit out!

smell it through the filter patch. if it smells really sour then your beat, but if it smells like shroomies then your cool. ive found that this is the best way to tell with these. i had three, and two of the three smelled a little sour. i tried casing to see what would happen, and sure enough the casing got contaminated the next day. i only had one bag survive, but thank god it was my pan cyans, and the two that i lost were only cubes...still though, kinda sucks. hope all is well with yours

my kit is still working fine though. fully colonized as of today. i just improvised and added four half pints to the compost and mixed that in the container. working just fine. i also have the pan cyans colonizing the compost as we speak. cant wait for those puppies to sprout. should be just in time for the after prom party ;) lucky me

i have seen it before in those bags which are actually pretty good. assuming it doesn't stink (smell through the filter patch as described above).... take into consideration what temps you have it at. in my experiance, if one side gets too hot, the mycellium will dry out to a greyish/blueish/DUSTY color. but if it stinks like ass, your screwed..... otherwise, you are fine.
